KUWAIT: Minister of Social Affairs and Minister of Family and Childhood Affairs Dr Amthal Al-Huwailah met Sunday with the UN Secretary-General’s Representative and Resident Coordinator in Kuwait Ambassador Ghada Al-Taher to discuss ways to strengthen joint cooperation and organize a specialized conference on social care organizations. In a press statement, Minister Al-Huwailah affirmed the ministry’s keenness to support all initiatives and partnerships with the UN Office in Kuwait and to exchange expertise in areas related to social care and development.
She praised the efforts made to promote integration among official bodies, international organizations, and civil society institutions in addressing social care and development issues—efforts that contribute to serving the community and achieving shared humanitarian and developmental goals. Ambassador Al-Taher highlighted the importance of coordinating efforts between official bodies and civil society organizations. She expressed the UN office’s interest in organizing a broad conference on social care organizations with local and regional participation, aiming to spotlight the key challenges and opportunities in this vital field.
She noted that an integrated calendar of activities and events related to international observances was agreed upon, with the goal of raising public awareness on issues related to disability, women, and children. The focus will be on implementing meaningful and impactful activities throughout the year. She also stressed the importance of cooperation with specialized civil society organizations by organizing joint training courses to support and qualify workers in relevant fields and enhance the capacities of target groups. — KUNA
