YEREVAN: The first Kuwaiti ice hockey team won the bronze medal of the World Cup for the fourth level (Armenia 2025), which concluded on Saturday evening in the Armenian capital, Yerevan, after a big victory over its Iranian counterpart with a score of (11/0), while the Uzbekistan team was crowned the title in front of the Armenian team, which won the second place and the silver medal.
Kuwaiti players presented a strong performance in the match held at the main ice hall in Yerevan and imposed a sweeping advantage over the course of the match to score 11 goals without allowing their opponent to score any goal, crowning their performance in the 7-day tournament.
The “Hockey Blue” players played a great tournament during which they managed to win four matches at the expense of Indonesia, Armenia, Malaysia and Iran, with only one stumble against the champion Uzbekistan, to achieve one of the best tournaments of its kind.
At the conclusion of the tournament, the Honorary President of the Kuwaiti Winter Games Club, Sheikh Jaber Al-Bandar Al-Sabah, praised the victory of the Blue players in the world medal and their ability to win four matches, most importantly against the Armenian team at home and in front of its audience.
Sheikh Jaber Al Bandar said, “This remarkable development of Kuwaiti ice hockey is the result of the continuous work and distinctive planning of the club's board of directors headed by Fahid Al Ajami.”
He stressed that this victory is an important motivation for the players to achieve more honorable results in the upcoming sports competitions. For his part, player Salem Al-Marri expressed his happiness to achieve these good results and compete with strong teams such as Uzbekistan and Armenia and even achieve the same number of victories to be appealed to direct confrontations that determined the positions.
Al-Marri, the best player award in today's match, said that the Blue hockey players' participation in the championship matches was an important opportunity to increase experience and raise the technical level, praising the great support provided by the club to the players, which contributed to the development of Kuwaiti ice hockey. - KUNA
