GAZA: A staff member of the Kuwaiti Specialized Hospital in Gaza was killed and nine people injured in a Zionist occupation assault on the facility, the hospital’s administration said on Tuesday. Director Dr Suhaib Al-Hams told KUNA the rear gate of their facility, located in Khan Yunis in southern Gaza, was targeted by the occupation forces, leading to casualties.
He said staff member Manee Hanon sustained wounds in the attack and was pronounced dead upon arrival at the European Hospital east of Khan Yunis. The attack resulted in damage to the Kuwaiti Hospital and medical tents located in its courtyard, he added.
On Monday, the ministry of foreign affairs expressed Kuwait’s strong condemnation and denunciation of the brutal Zionist occupation forces’ crime against the Al-Ahli Arab Baptist Hospital in Gaza. The Zionist occupation’s bombing of the hospital resulted in destroying vital facilities in the hospital including surgical and intensive care units in a flagrant violation of international law and international humanitarian law, as well as the Geneva Convention on the protection of health facilities and their workers and civilians, the ministry said in a statement.
The ministry renewed Kuwait’s absolute rejection of targeting medical and civil facilities. It called on the international community, mainly the UN Security Council, to bear its legal and humanitarian responsibilities towards halting these repeated breaches. It also called for holding the Zionist occupation accountable for its crimes committed against civilians, and ensuring offering full protection to medical facilities and hospitals. — KUNA
