KUWAIT: Ahmadi Governor and Chairman of the Green Urban Development Initiatives Committee, Sheikh Humoud Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, announced the launch of the committee’s first phase of landscaping and greening works along the Second Ring Road in the Shuwaikh residential area. The initiative, led by Engineer Haifa Al-Muhanna, marks the beginning of the committee’s efforts to enhance urban greenery across the country.
Speaking to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on Monday during an inspection tour of the area, Sheikh Humoud said the initiative follows the Council of Ministers’ Resolution No (1634), which approved the plan after securing the necessary permissions from relevant government authorities. He emphasized that the initiative forms part of Kuwait’s broader sustainable development goals and aims to encourage contributions from individuals, companies, and cooperative societies. These efforts include the beautification of public squares, development of parks, landscaping of roundabouts, establishment of memorials, and the painting of bridges and murals along major roadways.
Sheikh Humoud noted that the committee has set comprehensive standards and regulatory guidelines to ensure all projects align with the frameworks established by government bodies. He confirmed that initiative locations have been identified, required permits determined, and procedural templates prepared to streamline coordination with official agencies.

The governor called on interested parties to submit proposals via the committee’s official website (https://gudi.gov.kw) or through its social media accounts on X and Instagram (@gudikuwait).
