City Hypermarket named Kuwait’s #1 supermarket

Two awards won including one of top 10 brands in 2024 in all Kuwait

KUWAIT: City Hypermarket, Kuwait’s leading locally owned supermarket chain, has proudly been awarded #1 Supermarket in Kuwait and recognized as one of the top 10 brands in Kuwait for 2024. This prestigious recognition from the Service Hero independent platform, reflects the brand’s ongoing commitment to delivering an exceptional customer experience and redefining the retail landscape in the country.

The winners were announced at a special ceremony held to honor the top-ranked brands in each category at the Four Seasons Hotel, attended by Ahmed Adel Alghanim, and was attended by several executives and leaders from the winning companies. The survey conducted by Service Hero is based on information collected independently from customer opinions using a market research methodology. The goal is to empower consumers to have their voices heard, while also helping brands steer themselves toward enhancing customer experiences.

Renowned for its large-format stores, one-stop-shop convenience, and robust, value-driven promotions, City Hypermarket’s success stems from years of investment in customer-centric initiatives. This accolade comes on the heels of the brand’s transformative rebranding in early 2024, a bold move aimed at enhancing every customer touchpoint.

“Catering to our customers is at the core of our company values,” said Nasser Alghanim, Deputy CEO of City Hypermarket. “As a Kuwaiti company competing head-to-head with international players, we are extremely proud of our continued and expedited growth in market share, a testament to the trust of our customers and the dedication of our employees. We owe this award to them,” he said.

The recognition is backed by independent consumer feedback, which has validated the brand’s winning strategies and highlighted areas of excellence. “Listening to our customers’ needs has been our guiding core value, helping us zero in on what our customers value most and allowed us to expand strategically across the past year, with two locations opened in 2024. We’ve seen consistent growth across key demographics, with more store openings planned for 2025. Our goal is to be at the heart of every neighborhood in Kuwait, delivering a seamless blend of value, variety, and service”, said Jasim Alghanim, CEO of City Hypermarket.

A key pillar in this transformation was the launch of the City Hyper Training Academy—a dedicated learning and development program focused on empowering frontline staff with the skills and knowledge needed to deliver superior service. The company has also made significant strides in understanding evolving customer needs, leading to several new initiatives set to launch this year, including a new mobile app, an upgraded e-commerce website, and an innovative loyalty program—all designed to further elevate the shopping experience.

City Hypermarket’s ambitions aren’t limited to Kuwait. In 2024, the company opened its first GCC location in Doha, Qatar, marking the beginning of its regional expansion, with further Middle East locations already in the pipeline. This is City Hypermarket’s second “#1 Supermarket in Kuwait” win from Service Hero and its first appearance in Kuwait’s Top 10 Brands, a milestone that underscores its growing influence and unwavering dedication to customers.

With people at the core of its mission, City Hypermarket is poised to continue exceeding expectations—locally and beyond.
