‘Be Aware’ campaign promotes road safety awareness among juveniles

Initiative aims to instill traffic discipline, responsible behavior

KUWAIT: In an effort to promote road safety and legal awareness among youth, the Ministry of Social Affairs — through the Juvenile Welfare Department — has launched the “Be Aware” campaign in collaboration with the Ministry of Interior’s General Department of Security Media. The initiative coincides with Gulf Traffic Week 2025 and aims to instill traffic discipline and responsible behavior among juveniles.

The campaign officially kicked off on Saturday, with its first awareness lecture held in the multipurpose hall at the Juvenile Welfare Department. The event was attended by officials, staff members, parents, and juveniles under judicial observation. The session featured presentations by Major Musaed Al-Aslawy, Head of the Traffic Awareness Section, and Warrant Officer Hamad Al-Aidan. It included audio-visual segments explaining the new traffic law, along with open discussions designed to reinforce the importance of road safety and the dangers of reckless behavior.

Dr Jassem Al-Kandari, speaking at the event, emphasized the need for collective national efforts to protect and educate the younger generation. “The ‘Be Aware’ campaign reflects a real partnership between state institutions to promote behavioral and legal values among juveniles. We believe early awareness is the foundation for raising a disciplined, law-abiding generation capable of contributing positively to society. We also appreciate the vital role of security media in supporting such impactful initiatives,” he said.

Also speaking at the event, Salem Ghazai Al-Enezi, Head of Programs and Activities at the Juvenile Welfare Department, underlined the campaign’s broader social mission: “Our goal is to enhance legal and social awareness, while nurturing a sense of responsibility among juveniles. Offering guidance and knowledge is the best way to pave a safe path for their future — free from behavioral risks and legal violations.” The campaign is expected to continue through a series of lectures, activities, and collaborative efforts aimed at transforming traffic education into a lasting cultural value among youth in Kuwait.
