Kuwaiti father-son duo clinch podium finishes at Jet Ski Championship

ABU DHABI: Kuwaiti jet ski racers Ahmad Al-Dawas and his son Rashid secured third-place finishes in the Stock and GP categories, respectively, at the UAE Jet Ski Championship held over the weekend at the Breakwater area in Abu Dhabi. Speaking to KUNA following the achievement, Ahmad Al-Dawas expressed his delight at returning to the podium after a period away from top-tier finishes.

He noted that the championship, part of the ongoing 2025 marine sports season, featured fierce competition across seven categories for both seated and standing riders, encompassing professionals and amateurs alike. More than 45 participants from Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries and Europe took part in the event. Al-Dawas commended the high level of organization by the Abu Dhabi International Marine Sports Club and voiced his hope for the continued hosting of such events, citing their significant role in advancing the technical and physical skills of athletes, particularly among Kuwaiti water sports professionals.

He further highlighted the importance of this year’s edition, which introduced a new competitive system aimed at enhancing the level of challenge, showcasing individual skill, and encouraging strong rivalries among riders. The new format, he added, allowed participants to demonstrate a wide range of technical abilities and maneuvering techniques. The UAE Jet Ski Championship remains a key fixture in the regional marine sports calendar, drawing talent from across the region and beyond. — KUNA
