KUWAIT: His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Annual Shooting Grand Prix will kick off on Sunday, with the men’s and women’s Skeet (75 clay targets) qualifiers.
Yesterday, the official training for the men’s and women’s skeet competitions was held in the morning, followed by the opening ceremony of the championship at 6:30 pm.
On the other hand, the technical committee meeting of the tournament was held on Saturday afternoon at the Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Olympic Ranges, which was chaired by the President of the Kuwaiti and Arab Shooting Federations - member of the International Shooting Federation - Chairman of the Higher Organizing Committee of the tournament, Engineer Duaij Khalaf Al-Otaibi.
During the meeting, the system of all competitions of the tournament was discussed, in addition to responding to the inquiries of the participating teams.
The President of the Egyptian and African Shooting Federations, Major General Hazem Hosni, emphasized the keenness of the Arab Republic of Egypt to participate in His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah Annual International Grand Prix, as it has a status among all Arab and foreign countries, as it enjoys the support and care of the political leadership, headed by His Highness the Amir, which gives the championship the importance and prestige it deserves.
Hosni continued: “Kuwait has great success factors in such tournaments, because of the presence of the strongest shooters creates a distinctive competition between them, in addition to the Kuwait Shooting Club’s possession of Olympic ranges with high specifications, and a suitable ground for training and official competition.” He explained that the Egyptian shooters participate in the HH the Amir Grand Prix to gain experience.
Hosni praised the work done by the Kuwait Shooting Federation under the leadership of Engineer Duaij Al-Otaibi and members of the Board of Directors, and their keenness to show the tournament in a strong and large form, and the support of the President of the Asian Shooting Confederation, Sheikh Salman Al-Sabah, who cares and supports all Asian Shooting federations.
For his part, the head of the Omani delegation participating in the tournament, Muslim bin Abdullah Sobhi, congratulated the Chairman of the Higher Organizing Committee of the Grand Prix, Engineer Duaij Khalaf Al-Otaibi, on the launch of the Grand Prix, which bears a precious name for everyone.
He stressed that the organization is more than wonderful, which is not new to the Kuwaiti shooting officials, who set the most wonderful examples in all the tournaments they organize.
Sobhi pointed out that Kuwait dazzles everyone by organizing tournaments at a high level, with the presence of sincere national cadres who seek to show the tournaments in the form that suits them, so the Kuwait Shooting Federation is one of the strongest and most prominent international federations in organizational matters.
He added: “The Oman Shooting Federation is always keen to participate in the championships held in Kuwait, perhaps the most important of which is the Grand Prix of His Highness the Amir, through which we aspire to achieve honorable results, in light of the competition that is characterized by complete justice.” Sobhi concluded his statement, stressing that the participation of Omani shooters in major tournaments is important to compete with world champions, and get the necessary experience.
