KUWAIT: As it does every year, Zain welcomed the holy month of Ramadan by launching its annual campaign Zain Al-Shuhoor, one of the first and most prominent Ramadan community campaigns in Kuwait. It is also among the country’s broadest and most comprehensive initiatives, having launched more than 11 years ago and continuing annually with great success.
This year, the campaign featured a diverse and evolving array of volunteer, charitable, humanitarian, social, and religious programs that kick-offed ahead of Ramadan and continued daily until Eid Al Fitr. The Zain Al-Shuhoor campaign aimed to promote volunteerism and community engagement through its wide range of programs, all centered around values of giving, helping others, and collective cooperation to create a positive impact in society. As usual, Zain opened the door for its employees to volunteer as part of the Zain Al-Shuhoor Volunteer Team, made up of staff members from across all departments, who actively participated in humanitarian and volunteering programs throughout the holy month.
Zain is proud that Zain Al-Shuhoor remains one of the largest and most successful community campaigns during Ramadan. It evolves every year, expanding its programs and initiatives, and this continued success is owed to many factors—chief among them being its partners, with whom Zain builds bridges of collaboration to reflect the spirit of generosity that defines this Sacred Month. The success of a community project of this scale relies entirely on constructive cooperation and a shared vision among all stakeholders. In this report, Zain highlights the key moments of its 2025 Ramadan campaign:

Food baskets
Zain kicked off its campaign with the Ramadan food baskets initiative, distributed to underprivileged families through its strategic partners: the Ministry of Social Affairs’ care centers and the Kuwait Food and Relief Bank. The baskets were delivered to social care centers under the Ministry of Social Affairs, benefiting foster care children, the elderly, and people with special needs. They were also distributed by the Kuwait Food and Relief Bank to families in need across various areas of Kuwait.
Iftar meals
From the first day of Ramadan, Zain resumed its annual iftar initiative—now in its 18th year—offering daily meals to fasting individuals at Manahi Al-Dawwas Hall in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh. This year, over 40,000 meals were served throughout the month. The Zain Al-Shuhoor team, including volunteers from across departments, directly supervised and organized the initiative, reaffirming their commitment to impactful community involvement. Meals were also delivered in collaboration with the Kuwait Food and Relief Bank through mobile food trucks dispatched daily across Kuwait. These included stops at the traditional Mubarakiya Market in downtown Kuwait—joined by Zain’s executive team—and the fish market in Sharq, where children from the Kharafi Center for children with disabilities helped distribute meals, showcasing Zain’s efforts to include individuals with special needs in meaningful societal participation.
Iftar with Kuwait’s heroes
Zain hosted a Ramadan iftar banquet at Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Base on the northern island on Jaber Al-Ahmad Bridge in honor of the Coast Guard, recognizing their tireless efforts to safeguard Kuwait’s maritime borders. Another banquet was held for personnel from six ministries and institutions stationed on Failaka Island, in appreciation of their service. The Zain Al-Shuhoor team visited the island and shared iftar with members of the Ministry of Interior, the Kuwait Fire Force, Emergency Medical Services, the Kuwait Army, the Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy, and the Ministry of Information. During the visit, the team expressed their deep gratitude and appreciation for the significant efforts these individuals dedicate to protecting Kuwait and its people.
Zain x 965 Ramadan nights
The first edition of the Zain x 965 Ramadan Nights exhibition was launched this year, a three-day event at Salhiya Plaza that created a vibrant space for community bonding and showcased the creativity and promising ventures of young Kuwaiti entrepreneurs. The event was part of Zain’s ongoing partnership with 965 Outlet, known for organizing marketing events that empower local businesses by allowing them to present their products and services in a festive atmosphere—this time for the first time during Ramadan.
Zain girgian
For Zain, the girgian tradition presents a wonderful opportunity to bring joy to children and individuals with disabilities. The company hosted several celebrations, including its annual girgian at the Ministry of Social Affairs care centers. This year, Zain partnered with Dabdoob to deliver joy through gifts, toys, and girgian packs to family care children, the elderly, and individuals with special needs. Following the huge success of the past two years, Zain revived its innovative “Drive-Thru Girgian” celebration in collaboration with Wainkom, drawing hundreds of cars to its Shuwaikh headquarters for a festive family event.
The Zain Al-Shuhoor volunteer team also organized visits to celebrate girgian with children and their families at Zain ENT Hospital and Jaber Al-Ahmad Hospital, bringing joy to young patients and the nursing staff caring for them through gifts and games in partnership with Dabdoob. Zain also continued supporting annual girgian celebrations at the Kharafi Center for children with disabilities and Al-Tomooh Sports Club for individuals with intellectual disabilities, which featured cultural and entertaining activities for the children and their families.
Embodying Quran values
Zain successfully concluded the second edition of its Quran Memorization and Recitation Competition, which saw strong participation from around 500 youth from various age groups competing to memorize the Holy Book and embrace its noble values. Held over two days at Zain’s headquarters, the competition included three age categories for both males and females and was overseen by an official committee from the Ministry of Islamic Affairs. Additionally, Zain hosted the fifth edition of the Quran Competition for its employees and their children, awarding the top three winners with motivational cash prizes.
Zain Who Knows No Fear
This year, Zain’s theater returned with the dazzling musical Zain Who Knows No Fear, which premiered on the first day of Eid Al-Fitr and ran for 10 days at The Arena Kuwait. It featured a breathtaking visual performance on the world’s largest circular children’s stage, telling a story about monsters representing negative emotions and thoughts, and how to face and overcome them. The play was written by Heba Mashari Hamada, directed by Samer Aboud, and starred Huda Hussein, Fatima Al-Safi, Hamad Ashkanani, Laila Abdullah, Hala Al-Turk, Haneen Hussein, Mohsen Al-Aswad, along with many young talents. The music was composed by Ihab Abdel Wahid and arranged by Ahmed Tarek Yehia, with Joy Production as the executive producer.
