Quds day: A symbol of solidarity with the Palestinian cause

By Mohammad Totonji, Iranian Ambassador

Our glorious Islamic nation commemorates World Quds Day on the last Friday of Ramadan, coinciding with the blessed nights of Qadr. This day was declared by the late Imam Khomeini decades ago as a starting point for the eradication of the Zionist entity—this malignant cancer implanted by major powers in the heart of our Islamic nation. Day by day, we realize the importance of this occasion, especially after witnessing, in recent months, the live images of this entity’s crimes—acts of genocide, the destruction of homes, mosques, and hospitals in Gaza. Yet, the sons of the Al-Aqsa Flood have succeeded in thwarting the aggression’s plans and achieving victory against the invading oppressors.

We increasingly understand that normalizing relations with an enemy that has committed all these bloody massacres, violated every principle of human rights, and demonstrated its treacherous aggression—while striving to Judaize the First Qibla and forcibly displace the residents of Gaza—is unacceptable. There is no option but to demand the implementation of the International Court of Justice’s rulings against the war criminals Netanyahu and Gallant so that they receive their just punishment.

The siege imposed on our brothers and sisters in Gaza, especially during Ramadan, and the prevention of humanitarian and medical aid require our nations to intensify efforts to expose these conspiracies and curb the unprecedented military, political, media, and financial support that the US provides to the Zionists. We must also support resistance movements defending their land and honor against the occupier, in accordance with the UN Charter, and reject the unlimited Western bias toward the Zionist expansionist project.

The Al-Aqsa Flood has freed prisoners from the hell of Zionist prisons into the realm of resistance—an unprecedented achievement recorded in history with pride. Zionist persistence in its aggressive policies, its growing calls for the forced displacement of the Palestinian people, its intensified military campaigns against West Bank cities, its blockade of humanitarian aid to Gaza, and its continued obstruction of UNRWA’s operations are all part of a systematic plan to depopulate Gaza and replace its original inhabitants with settlers.

Next in line are the West Bank and other Palestinian cities. These actions expose Zionist bullying and dominance, carried out with the backing of major powers. History will record who stood with the Palestinian right and supported the oppressed, and who colluded with the murderer and terrorist by providing him with weapons to continue demolishing Palestinian shelters, tents, and homes.

We have seen how this entity has not been satisfied with the massacres it committed over the past months, nor has it quenched its thirst for the blood of innocent children and women. Instead, it continues its crimes with arrogance, disregarding the ceasefire agreement. Since the agreement was signed, more than 650 Palestinians have been martyred, and Zionist entity continues its ground incursions and escalates its airstrikes, openly defying all accords.

The Iranian diplomatic apparatus, alongside popular institutions and the fighting forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran, declares its full solidarity with the Palestinian people’s struggle. We call on all free and honorable individuals to denounce these inhumane massacres and stand in support of the oppressed, helping them return to their villages and cities where they were born. Victory comes only from God.
