Raqqa project

In a separate development, Minister of Public Works Dr Noura Al-Mashaan signed a contract for the East Raqqa project, which entails the construction, completion, and maintenance of roads, storm drains, and an integrated infrastructure network to meet the needs of the area’s residents. Al-Mashaan stated in a press release on Monday that the project aims to enhance traffic flow and improve the surrounding road network.

She noted that the initiative will develop local roads to accommodate increasing traffic demands resulting from urban expansion and population growth in neighboring areas. She further highlighted that the project will modernize infrastructure in East Raqqa, including upgrades to roads, water, and electricity networks, thereby increasing capacity for future population growth. The initiative is expected to enhance public services and mitigate existing infrastructure challenges in the area.

Al-Mashaan affirmed that all design stages have been completed, including a field survey aligning municipal plans with on-site conditions. Necessary approvals from the municipality and relevant service ministries were secured. Additionally, the Public Works Ministry conducted soil research and testing through the government’s specialized center. Upon securing all required approvals, the Central Tenders Agency was approached to initiate the tendering process. Al-Mashaan confirmed that the technical study and award process have been finalized, with the final approval obtained from the Audit Bureau. — KUNA
