KUWAIT: President of Kuwait Shooting Sport Club Engineer Duaij Khalaf Al-Otaibi said in a press conference that His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah Annual International Shooting Grand Prix will kick off on April 11 with the participation of international and distinguished shooters from a number of Arab and foreign countries, and competitions will continue until the 20th of the same month.
In a press conference on Sunday evening, Al-Otaibi, who Chairs the Higher Organizing Committee of the tournament, expressed his thanks and gratitude on behalf of members of the Higher Organizing Committee of the tournament and all Kuwaiti shooting affiliates for the noble paternal care that Kuwait shooting sport enjoys from His Highness the Amir, adding that the tournament has become, thanks to Allah and then his generous support, one of the most important international sports events in this sport, which enjoys great interest and participation.
He said that the championship, which will be held at the Shooting Sport Club ranges at the Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Olympic Ranges and will include the holding of competitions of the shotgun, namely (skeet) for men and women and (trap) for men and women and mixed teams, pointing out that the committee received requests for participating from a large number of champions of the game in a number of European, Arab and Asian countries, which promises strong event.
He explained that the organizing committee of the championship prepared early to hold this major sporting event for the international, Asian and Arab shooting community, as the committee is working to prepare the ranges to hold the competitions and everything necessary to provide international judges and organizers at the highest level, noting the efforts of all committees working in the championship and volunteers.
Al-Otaibi pointed out that the organizing committee will hold a special opening ceremony for this great tournament, which will witness the presence of the representative HH the Amir, Governor of Mubarak Al-Kabeer, HE Sheikh Sabah Badr Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, expressing pride of Kuwait shooting community in organizing this international sports ceremony.
He stressed the readiness of the Kuwaii national team shooters to compete in the championship, as all the shooters who have achieved the qualifying number approved in the championship will participate, indicating that the Kuwait shooters will compete strongly to achieve distinguished results in the tournament, especially since they have good experience in major tournaments,
He praised the support provided by the ministries and state agencies to make this precious championship a success, especially the Ministries of Interior, Defense, Information, Health, National Guard, Public Authority for Sport and other agencies, thanking them for their distinguished cooperation in this regard. The conference was attended by club secretary General Obaid Al-Osaimi and a number of members of the club’s board of directors and a number of heads of the working committees of the championship.
