Kuwait keen on strategic partnership with China

BEIJING: Kuwaiti Ambassador to China Jassem Al-Najem reaffirmed Kuwait’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with China, particularly in the fields of economy and investment. Speaking to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), Ambassador Al-Najem highlighted the ongoing collaboration between the two nations, noting that several major projects are currently in progress following a visit by a delegation from the Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority (KDIPA) to Beijing.

He explained that the visit builds on the memorandum of understanding (MoU) on free trade and economic zones, signed between KDIPA and China’s Ministry of Commerce in September 2023 during the visit of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to China. As part of their visit, the KDIPA delegation is scheduled to meet with key officials from China’s Ministry of Commerce and visit various companies and institutions within the Beijing Economic and Technological Development Area.

Ambassador Al-Najem underscored Kuwait’s dedication to its strategic partnership with China, emphasizing the mutual benefits of enhanced economic collaboration. He also commended the contributions of Chinese firms in Kuwait’s economic development, particularly as the country embarks on large-scale development initiatives. Kuwait has signed multiple MoUs with China in recent years, including agreements for the implementation of the Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port project, further solidifying bilateral economic ties. — KUNA
