Turkish Embassy hosts iftar dinner

KUWAIT: On the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan, the Turkish Embassy in Kuwait hosted an iftar dinner at its premises on March 19th, 2025. In her welcoming speech, Ambassador Tuba Nur Sonmez highlighted the Ramadan traditions in Turkey, emphasizing the importance of sharing meals, the strength of togetherness, and engaging in acts of charity. She also spoke about the fraternal ties and strengthening cooperation between Turkey and Kuwait, including the official visit of the Amir His Highness Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah’s visit to Turkey.

Additionally, Ambassador Sonmez mentioned previous events held by the Turkish Embassy to celebrate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Turkey and Kuwait. These events included the opening of the Turkish book section at the National Library of Kuwait, a cultural tour to the Masjid of Badreya Al-Naser, the inauguration of the exhibition titled “60 Years of Diplomatic Relations, Enduring Friendship Between Turkey and Kuwait: Documents from Archives,” a Turkish Classical Music Concert at the Yarmouk Cultural Center, and the inauguration of the Turkish Products Fair and Friendship Mural in Souq Mubarakiye.

Following her speech, a video showcasing the spirit of Ramadan in Turkey was screened, presenting the cultural heritage of the country. Attendees also participated in a quiz show about Turkey-Kuwait relations and were presented with special gifts. Ambassador Tuba Nur Sonmez was accompanied by Zubaydullo Zubaydzoda, Dean of the Diplomatic Corps and Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan to Kuwait; Atinç Keskin, Representative of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus to Kuwait; Emil Kerimov, Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan; and Edip Gazi, MUSIAD Kuwait Representative. The iftar gathering was also attended by nearly 500 Turkish citizens living in Kuwait.
