Mubarak Al-Kabeer port key pillar of economic vision

KUWAIT: The Mubarak Al-Kabeer Seaport project is a landmark initiative poised to position Kuwait as a leading regional hub for cargo and commercial activities, Minister of Public Works Dr Noura Al-Mashaan said on Sunday. During a site visit to Boubyan Island, Dr Al-Mashaan—who also serves as Acting Minister of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy—emphasized the project’s significance within Kuwait Vision 2035, which aims to transform the country into a regional commercial and economic powerhouse.

She noted that the field inspection aligns with leadership directives to accelerate construction progress, highlighting that the visit aimed to assess developments since the contract was signed and work commenced on March 16. Dr Al-Mashaan reiterated that Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port is a crucial component of Kuwait’s long-term development strategy, reinforcing its ambitions to become an international trade and logistics hub.

Kuwait and China signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) last September, which included collaboration on the port’s development. This agreement is part of a broader framework of strategic cooperation between the two nations. The current contract covers the finalization of the port’s design, as well as a comprehensive execution and operational strategy. — KUNA
