Specialized care for individuals with Down syndrome is a testament to Kuwait’s strong belief in justice: Minister

KUWAIT: Dr Amthal Al-Huwailah, the Minister of Social Affairs and Family and Childhood Affairs, emphasized on Friday that Kuwait’s specialized care for individuals with Down syndrome is a testament to the country’s genuine humanitarian commitment. It reflects the nation’s civilizational values and its strong belief in justice, equal opportunities, and human dignity. In a statement to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) marking World Down Syndrome Day on March 21, Dr Al-Huwailah highlighted that under the country’s wise leadership, Kuwait continues to enhance its services and care system for citizens with Down syndrome. This comprehensive system is designed to meet their diverse needs, ensuring both psychological and social stability, as well as a high quality of life for individuals and their families.

She further noted that the Public Authority for Disabled Affairs is continuously improving its rehabilitation programs and updating services to align with global best practices. The authority is also intensifying efforts in collaboration with various government and civil society organizations to ensure efficient access to these services.

Dr Al-Huwailah commended the dedicated efforts of families, civil society organizations, and national staff involved in this field, highlighting their contribution to the values of solidarity and compassion within Kuwaiti society. She emphasized that Kuwait will remain steadfast in its humanitarian mission, always prioritizing the well-being of its people.
