Unstable weather conditions expected until Saturday

KUWAIT: The Kuwait Meteorological Department (KMD) has forecast unstable weather conditions in the coming days as the country will be affected by a surface depression, gradually deepening in conjunction with another depression in the upper atmosphere. The system is expected to bring increased cloud cover, with intermittent light to moderate rainfall continuing until Saturday evening. Some areas may experience heavy and thundery showers at times, according to Acting Director of the Meteorological Department Dharar Al-Ali.

Al-Ali told KUNA that the heaviest rainfall is expected on Saturday afternoon. Strong southerly winds will cause dust storms, reducing horizontal visibility, particularly in open areas and leading to high sea waves. Weather conditions are expected to improve gradually from midnight on Saturday, with decreasing clouds and rainfall. However, there remains a chance of fog forming on Sunday morning, particularly in coastal areas.

The weather will be hot, partly cloudy to cloudy, with moderate to active southeasterly to southerly winds at speeds of 20-55 km/h, causing dust storms and a chance of scattered, sometimes thundery, rain. The maximum temperature is expected to range between 31-33°C, while sea conditions will be moderate to rough, with waves between 3-7 feet. During the night, the weather will remain moderate and partly cloudy to cloudy, with southwesterly to southeasterly winds ranging from light to moderate, occasionally strengthening to 12-55 km/h. There will be a chance of scattered thundery rain and dust storms. The minimum temperature is expected to be between 17-19°C, with moderate to rough seas and waves between 3-6 feet.

Friday forecast

On Friday, the weather will be warm and cloudy to partly cloudy, with moderate to fresh southerly to southeasterly winds at speeds of 20-55 km/h, raising dust and bringing a chance of scattered, sometimes thundery, rain. The maximum temperature is expected to range between 27-29°C, with sea waves between 3-7 feet. At night, the weather will remain moderate and cloudy to partly cloudy, with southeasterly winds shifting to northwesterly at speeds of 15-45 km/h. There remains a chance of scattered thundery rain. The minimum temperature will range between 14-16°C, with moderate to rough seas and waves between 3-7 feet.

Saturday forecast

Saturday’s weather will be warm and partly cloudy, with northwesterly winds ranging from light to moderate, occasionally reaching speeds of 12-40 km/h. Scattered rain, sometimes thundery, is expected, with maximum temperatures ranging between 22-24°C. The sea will be light to moderate, with waves reaching between 2-6 feet. By Saturday night, temperatures will drop further as rain chances diminish. Northwesterly winds will be light to moderate, occasionally strengthening in coastal areas to 15-40 km/h. The minimum temperature will range between 13-15°C, while sea conditions will remain light to moderate, with waves between 2-6 feet. — KUNA
