Council sets admission requirements for graduate studies

KUWAIT: The Council of Public Universities on Monday approved the admission requirements and expected student intake for the College of Graduate Studies for the 2025-2026 academic year. The council also determined the number of available scholarships, with one seat allocated for individuals with disabilities in each graduate program.

Acting Secretary-General of the Council Dr Jassim Al-Ali stated in a press release that the decisions were made during the council’s first meeting, chaired by Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Dr Nader Al-Jalal. The council also approved the minutes of its previous meeting (2024/25) held on November 7 and reviewed a report on the implementation of past resolutions.

Al-Ali further noted that the council adopted a draft ministerial decision outlining the conditions, standards, and procedures for appointing academic leaders, including deans, heads of scientific departments, and similar positions. This follows the issuance of Decree Law No 156 of 2024, which amended certain provisions of Law No 76 of 2019 concerning universities. Additionally, the council reviewed the annual report of Kuwait University for the 2022-2023 academic year, as well as the annual report of the General Secretariat of the Council of Government Universities for 2023. — KUNA
