KUWAIT: His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah visited the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) on Sunday evening to mark the holy month of Ramadan. Accompanied by His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, Acting Prime Minister Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef Saud Al-Sabah and senior officials, His Highness was warmly received by SJC President and President of the Court of Cassation Dr Adel Bouresli, Minister of Justice Nasser Yusuf Al-Sumait and Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Justice Tareq Ali Al-Asfour.
During his address to the judiciary leadership, His Highness the Amir expressed his pleasure at visiting the judiciary during the blessed month of Ramadan alongside the Crown Prince and other officials. He lauded Kuwait’s judiciary as the cornerstone of justice and stability, emphasizing its pivotal role in upholding the rule of law and serving as a source of national pride.
His Highness underscored that security, coupled with a credible, professional, and impartial judiciary, is fundamental to the nation’s prosperity. Stressing the independence of the judiciary, he affirmed that no authority stands above the judges. He urged the judiciary to act with impartiality, uphold the rule of law, and safeguard the rights and freedoms of all citizens without bias.




















Outlining three key priorities for the judiciary, His Highness called for the accelerated Kuwaitization of judicial and subordinate roles, the application of divine justice in verdicts, and the reduction of prosecution and litigation durations. He also praised the increasing role of women in the judiciary, calling it a historic milestone in Kuwait’s commitment to gender equality and women’s empowerment.
HH the Amir further expressed hope for legislative reforms to modernize judicial procedures, facilitate litigation, and expedite digital transformation within the judicial system and Public Prosecution. He commended the judiciary and executive authorities as the two pillars of leadership that work to fulfill the aspirations of the people within the constitutional framework.
Concluding his address, His Highness the Amir extended his best wishes to the judiciary and all citizens of Kuwait. SJC President and Court of Cassation President Dr Adel Bouresli reaffirmed the council’s commitment to reinforcing justice and integrating judicial bodies across all sectors. In his speech during the Amir’s visit, Bouresli expressed deep gratitude for the Amir’s unwavering support of the judiciary and legislative authority.
Following His Highness the Amir’s directives, Bouresli vowed to uphold the rule of law equitably, ensuring that justice serves as a foundation for Kuwait’s sustainable development and security. He emphasized the judiciary’s commitment to overcoming obstacles that hinder access to services, aligning with a modernized and inclusive judicial system. Praying for the Amir’s continued good health and for Kuwait’s stability, progress, and prosperity, Bouresli presented His Highness with a commemorative gift to mark the occasion. — KUNA
