TEF Kuwait celebrates International Women’s Day with inspiring sessions

The Tamilnadu Engineers Forum (TEF), Kuwait celebrated International Women’s Day on March 7, 2025 at the Safir International Hotel in Fintas. The event commenced at 6.15 pm with the solemn rendition of ‘Tamil Thai Vazhthu’. The event opened with a safety moment by Deepa Kapil, who emphasized the importance of safety in both professional and personal lives. This was followed by Malathi Kalaiarasan’s beautiful recitation of a Thirukkural, highlighting the vital role of women in society and setting a reflective mood for the evening.

The welcome address was delivered by Mahalakshami Raja, who warmly greeted the attendees. Her address celebrated women’s achievements and laid the groundwork for the inspiring sessions to follow. The event featured several distinguished speakers and key sessions.

Nithya Vadivelan introduced the first speaker of the evening, Dr Anindita Medhi, MD, who delivered a session titled “Radiance Unveiled: Skin and Hair Care Secrets”. Dr Anindita Medhi shared valuable insights into skin and hair health, offering practical advice for maintaining a radiant appearance. The session was well-received by the attendees, who found the tips to be both informative and applicable to everyday self-care.

Following Dr Medhi’s session, Amutha Subramanian introduced Ghalyah Al-Ansari, a data scientist at the National Bank of Kuwait and the Founder of Adapture. In her session, “Women in STEM – Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics,” Ghalyah shared her experiences and challenges as a woman in the tech industry. Her inspiring journey encouraged attendees to pursue careers in STEM fields, breaking barriers in traditionally male-dominated industries.

The next speaker, Dr Shyamala Ramesh Babu, was introduced by Vinodhini Kishore. Dr Shyamala, a well-known motivational speaker, leading educator and founder of Chisel & Evolve, delivered a session titled “The Woman – The Strength of Society”, highlighting the role women play in shaping the foundation of society. Through her session, Dr Shyamala emphasized the nurturing power of women and their significant impact on family structures, offering a thoughtful perspective on women’s roles in both the family and broader society.

A lively and interactive Q&A session handled by Dr Vijayalakshmi Anantharaj and Dr Rumia Justin, offered attendees with an opportunity to engage directly with the speakers, seek advice, and clarify their doubts. Presenters were honored with shawls, garlands, and mementos as a token of appreciation for their insightful address in inspiring and empowering the attendees. The event was brilliantly anchored by Eswari Balasubramanian and Judy Arun Golden, who ensured the smooth flow of proceedings and maintained an engaging atmosphere throughout the event. The evening concluded with a vote of thanks by Pradhama Maniyarasu.

Following the sessions, attendees were invited to a dinner, offering an excellent opportunity for networking and continued discussions. It was a perfect way to wrap up an inspiring evening, with guests exchanging ideas, experiences, and forging meaningful connections.

The TEF 2025 committee meticulously organized the event, making TEF’s International Women’s Day celebration a truly memorable occasion. The event brought together a diverse group of individuals to honor and recognize the invaluable contributions of women across various fields.
