Kuwait’s new communicable diseases hospital nears completion

Minister urges timely work to open hospital for patients as soon as possible

KUWAIT: Minister of Health Dr Ahmad Al-Awadhi emphasized the need to complete all operational preparations for Kuwait’s new Communicable Diseases Hospital within the specified timeline to ensure it is ready to provide healthcare services as soon as possible. This initiative aims to enhance the healthcare sector’s capacity to meet patient needs and represents a significant step forward for Kuwait’s healthcare system.

Following a field visit to the hospital project on Wednesday, Al-Awadhi underscored the importance of delivering comprehensive medical services that meet the highest quality standards to ensure patient comfort and efficient care. He reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to advancing healthcare development plans and strengthening the system’s readiness to meet future demands.

The minister provided feedback during the visit and instructed technical and administrative teams to expedite preparations while adhering to the highest standards of quality and safety. He emphasized the need to finalize all operational requirements promptly to ensure the hospital’s readiness for patient admissions.

Accompanying Al-Awadhi were Undersecretary Dr Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi, Assistant Undersecretary for Engineering Affairs and Projects Ibrahim Al-Naham, Assistant Undersecretary for Pharmaceuticals and Medical Equipment Khaled Al-Yaseen, and Assistant Undersecretary for Public Health Dr Munther Al-Hasawi, along with other ministry officials and specialized teams.

During the visit, the delegation inspected various hospital departments and facilities to ensure all necessary preparations were on track for the hospital’s official opening. Al-Awadhi also received a detailed briefing on the medical and technical equipment and the hospital’s operational plan, which aligns with international quality and safety standards.

Hospital features

The new Communicable Diseases Hospital is one of Kuwait’s most advanced healthcare projects, spanning 46,523 square meters with a total building area of 74,000 square meters. It comprises a basement, ground floor, five upper floors, and a rooftop, with a capacity of 224 beds equipped with the latest medical and technological advancements.

The hospital features comprehensive medical services, including emergency care, medical records, radiology, main and outpatient pharmacies, a laboratory, outpatient clinics, sterilization, dental care, and physical therapy. It also provides ample parking facilities both in front of the building and in the basement, ensuring a fully integrated healthcare environment that meets international standards.

This project is part of the Ministry of Health’s strategic plan to improve healthcare quality and enhance the system’s ability to manage diverse medical conditions.
