KUWAIT: Minister of Social Affairs, Family, and Childhood Affairs Dr Amthal Al-Huwailah reaffirmed on Saturday that Kuwaiti women have long been a beacon of dedication and sacrifice, playing a pivotal role in the nation’s development and renaissance. She lauded their leadership in various fields and their significant contributions to the national progress.

Speaking to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on the occasion of International Women’s Day, Al-Huwailah highlighted the resilience of Kuwaiti women, who have consistently demonstrated their ability to overcome challenges and actively participate in the country’s construction and advancement. “They have achieved remarkable milestones that make us all proud,” she stated. She underscored the unwavering commitment of Kuwaiti women, recalling their heroic role during the brutal Iraqi invasion of 1990. In those dire times, women exhibited extraordinary resilience and sacrifice, working tirelessly for the liberation of their homeland and the restoration of its sovereignty.

Al-Huwailah also emphasized the pioneering role of Kuwaiti women in education and the workforce, noting that they have been part of the educational system for decades and have ascended to leadership positions across various sectors. These achievements, she stressed, did not happen by chance but were the result of unwavering determination, strong will, and deep faith in their integral role in society.

She further commended the Kuwaiti leadership’s steadfast commitment to empowering women, providing them with opportunities to engage in decision-making and assume ministerial and executive roles. This reflects society’s confidence in their abilities and their vital contribution to national development. Concluding her remarks, Al-Huwailah reaffirmed that Kuwaiti women will always be a source of national pride, calling for continued support and empowerment to enable them to achieve greater milestones and contribute to a brighter future for upcoming generations.
