Kuwait-funded school opens in Yemen

ADEN: Yemen’s Minister of Education, Tareq Al-Abkari, has inaugurated the late Abdulrahman Al-Aujan Primary School in the Governorate of Hadhramaut. The project was implemented by the Response Foundation for Humanitarian Work and supervised by the Sheikh Abdullah Al-Nouri Charity Society as part of a Kuwaiti campaign that has been ongoing for a decade.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Al- Abkari emphasized that the Al-Aujan School project represents a significant achievement in advancing education in Yemen and improving the learning environment. He also expressed deep appreciation to Kuwait’s leadership, government, and people for their support and contributions to Yemen and praised Kuwait’s continued assistance to the education sector through impactful, long-term projects that have significantly improved the quality of education in the region.

For his part, the Deputy Governor of Hadhramaut Governorate for the Affairs of the Valley and Desert Directorates, Amer Al-Amiri, expressed gratitude to Kuwait and the family of the late Abdulrahman Al-Aujan for funding the construction of this school under the supervision of the Sheikh Abdullah Al-Nouri Charity. He stated that this school would serve as a major addition to the educational infrastructure in Wadi Hadhramaut, significantly contributing to the improvement of education in the region and enhancing its facilities and outcomes.

The school spans an area of 2,138 square meters and its two-story building features 12 fully furnished classrooms, an air-conditioned computer lab equipped with an interactive smart board, a multimedia room, a fully equipped science laboratory, and a solar energy system with a capacity of 36 kilowatts. - KUNA
