Training program empowers people with disabilities

KUWAIT: The Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS), in cooperation with the Human Construction Society for Social Development, celebrated the conclusion of the field training for the sixth batch of the “University Laboratory Technician Assistant” program for individuals with disabilities at Kuwait University.

Within the framework of its continuous efforts to empower individuals with disabilities and integrate them into the labor market, the Human Construction Society for Social Development organized a special closing ceremony for the field training of 20 students with disabilities, marking the sixth batch of beneficiary students to qualify and employ them, under the patronage of Kuwait University Rector Prof Dr Dina Musaed Al-Mailem and in cooperation with the KFAS.

The ceremony was held at Kuwait University with the presence of officials, employers, and supporting partners, along with the families of the graduates, where the achievements of the trainees and the skills they acquired during the rehabilitation period were reviewed. The ceremony included a presentation showcasing the previous batches that the association prepared, qualified, and employed in the labor market since the inception of this initiative titled “Partners for Their Employment,” which began in 2019.

In his speech during the ceremony, Dr Ghaleb Al-Osaimi, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Human Construction Society for Social Development, emphasized that this initiative aligns with the Society ‘s vision to enhance the economic independence of individuals with disabilities by providing specialized vocational training and creating sustainable employment opportunities for them. He pointed out that the Society has succeeded in employing a large number of graduates in partnership with various entities in the public and private sectors.

The total number of students affiliated with this initiative since its inception is 258, trained and employed in five batches. For their part, the graduates and their families expressed their joy at this opportunity, conveying their gratitude to the association and the supporting partners who contributed to this achievement, stressing that such initiatives enhance their self-confidence and enable them to contribute effectively to society.
