A group of Indian artists joined hands and organized a live painting exhibition titled ‘Hala Kuwait’ at the iconic Kuwait Towers on February 14 in solidarity with the state of Kuwait as the country celebrates its National Day and Liberation Day on Feb 25 and Feb 26 respectively. Visitors who came to see the Kuwait Towers were astonished by the way the artists painted the Towers in myriad colors and in a multitude of styles.
The live painting and painting exhibition, centering around the Kuwait Towers, was organized by International Artist Space Kuwait (InASK). Sultan Mohammad Al-Kandari, a well-known Kuwaiti vlogger and art promoter and the head of the Ministry of Interior’s IT department, inaugurated the event by painting a picture. The painting and painting exhibition which commenced at 11.30 am continued until 5 pm, attracting the visitors and drawing admiration from the onlookers.
In his brief remarks, Al-Kandari praised the initiative by the artists who mostly hailed from the Indian state of Kerala. The office-bearers of InASK said their objective is primarily to promote painting and the artists. They said InASK proposes to organize a painting exhibition for children and hold international art exhibitions like the Cochin Biennale, and conduct discussions and symposiums on art.
At a meeting chaired by artist Sunil Kulanada, artists Shrikumar Vallana welcomed the gathering, Shashi Krishnan greeted the artists and Hari Chengannur proposed vote of thanks. Thiruvalla Association representative James V Kottarathil was also present at the event.
Artists Uthaman Kumaran, Binu Vadasserikkara, Avinesh, Sivakumar, Sunil Pookode, Shaji Konni, Raveendran, Latikesh, Ratheesh Paleri, Salisha Ratheesh, Sana Abraham, Jessni Shameer, Mumtaz Firoz, Padma Chinnakaruppan, Deepa Praveenkumar, Sona Siddique and Ambika Mukundan were present at the meeting.
