Venice Carnival kicks off on St Mark’s Square

The 2025 Venice Carnival, which began on February 16, takes inspiration from the legendary Giacomo Casanova, marking the 300th anniversary of his birth. The festivities kicked off in St. Mark’s Square with a stunning water procession and vibrant celebrations that embrace the spirit of Venice’s storied past.

This year’s theme delves into Casanova’s adventurous legacy, offering visitors a chance to enjoy a mix of extravagant costumes, performances, and street theater, all set against the city’s historic backdrop. The Carnival runs until March 4, 2025.
