KUWAIT: Kuwait’s embassies around the world have been celebrating the 64th National Day and the 34th Liberation Day, with numerous ministers, ambassadors, senior officials, and prominent figures attending the events. Embassies in London, Dublin, Bratislava, Morocco, Spain, South Korea, and Rome marked the occasion by showcasing the strong bilateral relations between Kuwait and these countries.
In London, Kuwait’s Ambassador to the UK, Bader Al-Munaikh, opened his speech by honoring the vision and dedication of Kuwait’s founding forefathers. He also paid tribute to the fallen heroes who sacrificed their lives during the 1990 invasion, expressing heartfelt gratitude for the steadfast support of the United Kingdom during that challenging period. He particularly thanked the veterans present for their pivotal role in Kuwait’s liberation. “We gather today to celebrate our history, honor our achievements, and reaffirm our collective commitment to building a prosperous future,” said Ambassador Al-Munaikh. He expressed pride in the flourishing relations between Kuwait and the UK and looked forward to further enhancing these ties during his tenure.
On the topic of economic relations, the ambassador highlighted Kuwait’s significant role in the UK economy, referencing the establishment of the world’s first sovereign wealth fund in London in 1953. He also mentioned the Kuwait Investment Office’s contributions, managing substantial funds in the British market, supporting thousands of jobs, and playing a key role in the maritime and natural gas sectors.
In Ireland, Kuwait’s Ambassador Mohammed Al-Mohammed hosted a celebration attended by Irish government officials, ambassadors, and Kuwaiti students. He underscored the strong partnership between the two nations, particularly in supporting international peace, security, humanitarian aid, and regional issues like Palestine.







In Spain, the Chargé d’Affaires ad interim at the Kuwaiti Embassy in Madrid, Counselor Mohammad Al-Shohomi, expressed his wishes for Kuwait’s continued progress, prosperity, security, and stability under the wise leadership of His Highness the Amir of Kuwait. He praised the strong relations between Kuwait and Spain, which this year celebrates the 64th anniversary of diplomatic ties. Al-Shohomi emphasized Spain’s significant stance on the Palestinian issue and its contributions to peace efforts, particularly in Gaza.
Al-Shohomi also noted that the bilateral relations between Kuwait and Spain serve as “an exemplary model” for fruitful cooperation in various fields, highlighting Spain’s role as an important partner in Kuwait’s Vision 2035. He emphasized the need for continued efforts to enhance economic and investment cooperation between the two countries.
Former Spanish Ambassador to Kuwait, Miguel Moro Aguilar, also congratulated Kuwait’s leadership and people, emphasizing the excellent relations between the two countries and expressing hope for further strengthening ties. He highlighted the alignment of both nations on foreign policy issues and the need for more Spanish companies to operate in Kuwait.
Abdullah Al-Roumi, Head of the Kuwaiti Petroleum Corporation’s office in Madrid, praised the commercial relations and investments between the two countries, pointing out Kuwait’s involvement in fuel station operations in Spain and retail sales of oils and fueling at Spanish airports.
The celebration featured traditional performances, a weaving and handicraft corner, and folklore music, along with popular traditional sweets. Kuwaiti artist Amira Ashkanani contributed to the event with seven of her artworks, which reflected Kuwaiti heritage and traditional environmental elements, adding an artistic touch to the festivities. One of her paintings was dedicated to the Kuwaiti Embassy in Spain, showcasing key landmarks from both Kuwait and Madrid.
The Kuwaiti Embassy in Slovakia also held a celebration attended by Slovak Deputy Prime Minister Tomas Taraba, diplomats, and cultural figures. Counselor Saud Al-Mukhled congratulated Kuwait’s leadership and praised the warm relations between Kuwait and Slovakia, expressing hope to further strengthen bilateral ties. Deputy Prime Minister Taraba emphasized Kuwait’s early presence in Slovakia, which marked the long-standing friendship between the two countries.
In Italy, Kuwait’s Ambassador Nasser Al-Qattan hosted a reception attended by senior Italian officials, including the Deputy Minister of Defense. Ambassador Al-Qattan praised the historic and distinguished relations between Kuwait and Italy, extending heartfelt congratulations to Kuwait’s leadership on National and Liberation Days.
In Seoul, Kuwait’s Ambassador to the Republic of Korea, Theyab Al-Rashidi, expressed pride in Kuwait’s historical and cultural ties with South Korea. He also thanked Korea for its vital role in Kuwait’s liberation and emphasized the deepening economic cooperation between the two countries, with Kuwait being a major energy supplier to Korea. Al-Rashidi highlighted recent developments such as the strategic agreement between Kuwait Petroleum Corporation and Korea National Oil Corporation to store Kuwaiti crude oil in South Korea and the participation of Korean companies in key projects in Kuwait, including the Al-Zour refinery and the development of Al-Ahmadi port. — KUNA
