Ministry underscores importance of school debate competition

KUWAIT: The Ministry of Education on Thursday concluded the final rounds of the 7th School Debate Championship in Arabic under the supervision of the School Debate Club and in cooperation with the General Technical Guidance for the Arabic Language, and under the auspices of the Public Authority for Youth. The Ministry of Education stated in a press release that Al-Awael Private School won first place among women’s teams, while the Hawally team secured second place. As for boys’ teams, the Joint Talent Academy School for Boys, represented by the Capital team, achieved first place, while the Mubarak Al-Kabeer team came in second.

The statement quoted Acting General Technical Guidance for the Arabic Language Tariq Al-Enezi as saying that the Ministry of Education places great importance on the debate competition, which has been a pioneering event for many years, noting that this competition contributes to developing language and comprehension skills among students. Al-Enezi pointed out that all educational regions participated in the championship, where teams demonstrated distinguished levels and intense competition, explaining that debates enhance the culture of dialogue among youth and encourage them to engage in community issues.

In turn, the head of the Cultural and Social Activities Department at the Public Authority for Youth Fajr Al-Ghadouri affirmed, according to the statement, that the championship aims to develop the art of debate within Kuwait by encouraging students at all educational levels to participate and enhance their awareness of their roles in building the future. Al-Ghadouri explained that this competition contributes to preparing youth leaders capable of taking on responsibility, providing them with opportunities for learning and development, and qualifying them to represent Kuwait in international forums in the best possible way. — KUNA
