Gulf Bank transforming street ads into reusable bags for second year in a row

Bank advances its commitment to environmental sustainability

KUWAIT: As part of its ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability, Gulf Bank is continuing its initiative to repurpose its street advertisements into reusable bags for the second consecutive year, in partnership with Ibrah apparel and textile factory.

Gulf Bank’s Chief Marketing Officer Najla Aleisa stated: “Last year, we successfully transformed over 2,300 square meters of our street advertisements into reusable bags. This year, we aim to increase that number to nearly 3,000 square meters, further reinforcing our long-term commitment to sustainability.”

She added: “This initiative builds on the project we launched in 2023 in collaboration with several cooperative societies across Kuwait, where we distributed around 100,000 reusable bags. It reflects our dedication to protecting the environment and encouraging a cultural shift toward sustainable alternatives.” Aleisa further emphasized Gulf Bank’s commitment to supporting young Kuwaiti entrepreneurs, stating: “We partnered with Ibrah for this initiative due to its strong commitment to environmental sustainability and its dedication to supporting underprivileged families— values that closely align with Gulf Bank’s mission.”

Reaffirming its commitment to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles, Gulf Bank has introduced its 2030 Sustainability Strategy. This includes the establishment of a Sustainable Finance Framework and a Sustainability Risk Management Framework, along with an internal policy to document its sustainability commitments and define clear criteria for evaluating eco-friendly initiatives.

Shahad Al-Sabeeh, CEO and Founder of Ibrah, stated: “We are proud to partner with Gulf Bank on this ambitious initiative, repurposing street advertisements into unique products that encourage both customers and the public to use them, while meeting with their tastes and preferences.”

Gulf Bank aims to be Kuwait’s leading bank, fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace to deliver exceptional customer service while contributing sustainably to the community. Through its extensive branch network and innovative digital services, the Bank empowers customers to conduct banking transactions conveniently and efficiently, ensuring a seamless experience.
