Defense minister in Tunisia to attend Arab Council session

TUNIS: Kuwait Defense Minister Sheikh Abdullah Ali Abdullah Al-Sabah arrived in Tunisia on Saturday to participate in the 42nd session of the Arab Interior Ministers Council, which kicks off on Sunday on behalf of Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef Saud Al-Sabah.

The general secretariat of the Arab Interior Ministers said in a statement that the session is scheduled to discuss a number of topics on the agenda, including the report of the Secretary-General of the Council on the work of the General Secretariat between the 41st and 42nd sessions of the Council.

Among the most prominent topics on the agenda of the session are the draft of an eleventh phased plan for the Arab strategy to combat the illegal use of narcotics and psychotropic substances, the draft of a seventh phased plan for the Arab strategy for civil protection (civil defense), and the draft of a second phased plan for the Arab strategy to confront information technology crimes.

The session will also discuss recommendations issued by conferences and meetings held within the scope of the General Secretariat during 2024 and the results of joint meetings with Arab and international bodies, in addition to emphasizing the importance of holding periodic meetings of specialized Arab ministerial councils to confront extremism and terrorism.

Sheikh Abdullah Ali Abdullah Al-Sabah was received upon his arrival by Tunisian Interior Minister Khaled Al-Nouri, Secretary-General of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers Mohammed Koman, Kuwaiti Ambassador to Tunisia Mansour Al-Omar, a number of leaders of the Kuwaiti ministry of interior and members of the Kuwaiti Embassy in Tunisia. — KUNA
