KUWAIT: Minister of Communications Omar Al-Omar emphasized that the Government Communication Center, “Wasel,” will work to enhance integration among government entities to provide more efficient and timely services to citizens and residents. His statement came on Thursday following the signing of a cooperation protocol between “Wasel” and the Ministry of Communications at the Central Agency for Information Technology headquarters. Minister Al-Omar called on all government bodies to collaborate with “Wasel” and utilize its capabilities to improve communication services and public interaction. This effort supports the government’s digital transformation and aims to deliver high-quality services.
The “Wasel” Government Communication Center (101) is a unified platform designed to facilitate communication between the public and government entities, streamline procedures, promote transparency, and speed up responses to inquiries and feedback. Currently operating as a call center and technical support hub for the “Sahel” unified government services application, “Wasel” plays a key role in supporting digital transformation and providing a seamless user experience.
A major component of this effort involves a collaboration with Google, announced by the Acting Director-General of the Central Agency for Information Technology, Najat Ibrahim. She emphasized that this partnership will help develop the “Wasel” center, making use of Google’s expertise to enhance its functionality and improve the efficiency of government services.
The cooperation with Google reflects the government’s commitment to advancing its digital infrastructure and integrating innovative technologies into public services. This collaboration aims to improve the level of government services for citizens and residents while promoting seamless communication between government entities. It is a significant step in supporting Kuwait’s digital transformation and enhancing the effectiveness of both digital and direct service channels.
Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Communications Mishal Al-Zaid explained that the cooperation aligns with the Cabinet’s directives and the Minister of Communications’ instructions to improve cooperation between affiliated entities. He highlighted that this initiative is part of a broader effort launched at the end of last year to streamline the collection of outstanding financial dues. This collaboration allows “Wasel” to facilitate inquiries about debts and payments, enabling citizens and residents to contact the center (101) for information on amounts owed. Payments can be made through the “Sahel” app, the ministry’s website, or by visiting local divisions or government malls and using the “K-Net” service. — KUNA
