KUWAIT: Iranian Ambassador to Kuwait Mohammad Totonji emphasized the deep-rooted ties between Iran and Kuwait, describing their relationship as one of the oldest in West Asia, built on mutual respect and shared values.
Speaking at the National Day celebration of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Totonji highlighted the importance of strengthening diplomatic and economic cooperation, stating, “Our relations with the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) are entering a new phase of prosperity.”
Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs, Ambassador Samih Johar Hayat, echoed this sentiment, recognizing Iran as a significant regional player. He reiterated Kuwait’s openness to any sincere and constructive efforts that contribute to stronger bilateral ties and regional cooperation between the two countries.
Totonji pointed to recent diplomatic engagements, including the GCC foreign ministers’ meeting with Iran in Doha and the visit of Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi to Kuwait and other regional countries, as key steps toward greater regional stability.
Beyond bilateral ties, Totonji also addressed pressing regional issues, stressing the importance of justice and resistance in the face of oppression. “I find it essential to honor the memory of the martyrs of the resistance and highlight that the ceasefire agreement in Gaza is a result of the resilience, courage, and steadfastness of the great Palestinian people and Gaza in the face of one of the largest genocides and forced displacements in history,” he said.
He described this outcome as a testament to the solidarity and unity of Gaza’s people with the brave resistance, calling it “a historic victory for the Palestinian people, the Palestinian resistance, and all supporters of the cause in the region and the world.”
The event marked the 46th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic revolution, a pivotal moment in Iran’s history. Totonji described the occasion as “the triumph of light over darkness and the beginning of a new era based on independence, freedom, and justice.” For many Iranians, this day represents national sovereignty, resilience, and progress in various fields, including technology, medicine, and international diplomacy.
