British ambassador meets chief editors, discusses key issues

KUWAIT: UK Ambassador to Kuwait Belinda Lewis met Kuwait Times Editor-in-Chief Dr Ziad Al-Alyan, Al-Seyassah and Arab Times Editor-in-Chief Ahmed Al-Jarallah and An-Nahar Editor-in-Chief Imad Bukhamseen over lunch to discuss various topics of mutual interest.

During the meeting, Ambassador Lewis sought insights into public opinion on the ongoing review of Kuwaiti nationality files. The editors referenced their recent meeting with the minister of interior, providing perspectives on the matter. They expressed support for the decisions taken by HH the Amir regarding the parliament and other recent governmental measures, voicing optimism about the country moving in the right direction.

Another key topic discussed was the temporary cessation of British Airways operations to Kuwait. Ambassador Lewis reaffirmed previous statements made to Kuwait Times by British Airways officials, attributing the pause to issues related to the availability of engines and spare parts. She confirmed that the decision to suspend operations is subject to an annual review.
