New Palace of Justice inaugurated

Crown Prince, representing Amir, attends opening ceremony

KUWAIT: Under the patronage of HH the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and in the presence of HH the Amir’s representative, HH the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, the opening ceremony of the new Palace of Justice building was held on Tuesday. HH the Amir’s representative was warmly welcomed by Chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council and President of the Court of Cassation Counselor Dr Adel Majed Bouresli, Minister of Justice Nasser Yousef Al-Sumait and members of the Supreme Judicial Council. HH the Crown Prince then unveiled the memorial plaque to mark the occasion.

The ceremony was attended by Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef Saud Al-Sabah, along with senior state officials. The event commenced with the national anthem, followed by a recitation of verses from the Holy Quran. Bouresli expressed deep appreciation to HH the Amir for his patronage of this significant occasion. He also extended gratitude to HH the Crown Prince for attending the inauguration and for his continued support of the judiciary.

Boureslu highlighted the historical importance of the new Palace of Justice building, coinciding with Kuwait’s celebration of its 64th National Day and the 34th Liberation Day. He described the new facility as a beacon of fairness and justice, equipped with modern courtrooms, comfortable deliberation rooms and advanced technologies that will enhance judicial efficiency. He emphasized the building’s role in facilitating digital transformation within the judicial system and ensuring swift litigation processes while maintaining legal integrity.

Furthermore, he reaffirmed the leadership’s unwavering commitment to justice, recognizing the judiciary as a fundamental pillar in maintaining legal security and upholding the rule of law. He pledged, on behalf of the judiciary, to continue efforts toward prompt and effective justice, ensuring rights are protected and freedoms respected.

Al-Sumait reiterated the political leadership’s dedication to justice as a cornerstone of Kuwait’s governance. He outlined the ministry of justice’s strategic goals, including reviewing legislation, simplifying litigation procedures, accelerating case resolution, expanding digital judicial services and enhancing oversight and transparency to ensure the judiciary’s independence and integrity. The ceremony also featured the screening of a documentary titled The Origins of the Kuwaiti Judiciary. A commemorative gift was presented to HH the Amir’s representative on this occasion. – KUNA
