Discussions held with major companies to open branches in Kuwait: PM

World Governments Summit great opportunity to unify efforts toward better future: Sheikh Ahmad

DUBAI: The World Governments Summit 2025 is a global platform for a constructive, purposeful dialogue and an opportunity to unify efforts toward a better future, said His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah. This came during His Highness the prime minister speech at the World Governments Summit 2025, which kicked off on Tuesday in Dubai. His Highness affirmed Kuwait's commitment to achieving a bright future during the coming decade through its development vision, which includes priorities to achieve a qualitative shift in sustainable development paths and enhance economic diversity and financial stability based on ambitious strategic plans aimed at diversifying sources of national income.

His Highness also touched on Kuwait's efforts in international cooperation and its effective participation in a number of global memberships and partnerships in international federations and organizations. In light of Kuwait's plans for economic development, "we have held discussions with major companies in the global economy in which Kuwait contributes, and urged them to further activate their role in bringing about the desired economic renaissance by opening branches in the country and creating opportunities to employ and train young Kuwaiti cadres," said His Highness. "We are also working on opening the new Kuwait International Airport according to the best international standards in civil aviation industry, and using the latest technology to facilitate travelers' procedures without the need for human intervention," His Highness added.

Further, His Highness pointed to the railway projects with the city of Riyadh and with the GCC states to enhance the pioneering role of Kuwait at the regional level, in addition to Kuwait's interest in developing the digital system and enhancing the technological infrastructure, which embodies the state's ambitious vision to build a future based on technologies.

His Highness also touched on the strategic agreement between Kuwait and Google Cloud, which represents a serious step towards digital transformation. "In an era led by scientific research and accelerating technological developments in leading and developing sectors, including the space sciences sector, Kuwait has taken steady steps with a wise vision from His Highness the Amir, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, by establishing the Kuwait National Center for Space Research at Kuwait University, in cooperation with the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences, to highlight the potential of science, technology and innovation," said His Highness.

On climate change, His Highness affirmed that based on Kuwait's commitment to the decisions issued by the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Paris Agreement, and the serious implementation of sustainable development programs to preserve the environment, improve air quality and reduce carbon emissions, by preparing a long-term national strategy for low-carbon development; to achieve carbon neutrality in 2060, and drawing a roadmap for implementing the energy sector transformation strategy by 2050.His Highness called for adopting a realistic vision shared by the governments of the world to face the rapid progress in modern technologies, such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, virtual reality, and big data, in addition to the steady demographic changes and rapid environmental transformations.

His Highness praised the great success achieved by Dubai in organizing the World Government Summit over the past years and enhancing the UAE leading position at the regional and international levels, expressing his sincere thanks and appreciation to Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashid for the generous hospitality. - KUNA
