PAHW signs four new contracts to construct 6,455 houses

KUWAIT: The Public Authority for Housing Welfare (PAHW) announced signing four new contracts for the construction, completion, and maintenance of 6,455 houses and public buildings, as well as surface asphalt works, supply and installation of low and medium voltage cables, and road lighting works in seven suburbs within the affordable housing project.

Acting Director General of the Authority Rashid Al-Enezi said in a press statement on Sunday that through this signing, the Authority has completed signing all contracts related to the construction, completion, and maintenance of houses and public buildings, asphalt surface works, supply and installation of low and medium voltage cables, and road lighting works in all sectors of the affordable housing project.

He added that the Authority has completed signing six contracts with local and international companies to implement works related to the city at a total value of KD 785.3 million (about $2.6 billion), while the duration of each project is 1,095 days. He explained that the affordable housing project consists of 9,800 houses, public buildings, and their site connection works.

He pointed out that the project includes 74 public buildings, including two kindergartens, 10 primary schools, eight intermediate schools, and six secondary schools, in addition to two mosques, 14 main mosques, 16 houses for imams and muezzins, a fire station, a telephone exchange, two community development centers, two social unit centers, two police stations, two specialized health centers, an ambulance center, two central markets, two gas branches, and a diwaniya for the elderly.

Al-Anzi pointed out that the signing of these contracts came within the framework of the institution’s commitment to achieving its strategic goals in providing integrated housing projects that contribute to improving the standard of living, explaining that the project’s timetable set the completion date for early 2028. He stressed that the institution is following up on the implementation of the works of the first and second contracts, which began work at the beginning of last January and include the construction of 3,345 houses and a number of public buildings. — KUNA
