KUWAIT: The 7th National School Debate Championship in Arabic for secondary school students kicked off on Sunday under the supervision of the School Debate Club, in cooperation with the General Technical Guidance for Arabic Language at the Ministry of Education, under the auspices of the Public Authority for Youth. The event was hosted by the International University of Kuwait (IUK).
The Ministry of Education said in a statement that the final qualifiers of the championship are witnessing competition from more than 26 teams from various public, private, religious, and special education sectors, with the participation of more than 90 male and female students and 60 judges in the field of debates.

Technical Supervisor of Arabic Language and Coordinator of the Championship Bader Al-Shatti stressed the Ministry of Education’s keenness to develop the skill of debate and enhance the culture of dialogue to develop intellectual capacity and increase students’ knowledge, noting that debates contribute to building logical thinking among students and encourage freedom of opinion and open discussion.
Al-Shatti explained that the final qualifiers resulted in the qualification of four boys’ teams out of 12 participating teams, namely Al-Asima, Al-Noor School, Mubarak Al-Kabeer, and Hawally. Also, four girls’ teams out of 14 teams, namely Hawally, Al-Awael School, Mubarak Al-Kabeer, and Al-Asima, have qualified to participate in the final rounds that will be held at the General Directorate of Arabic Language in the Ministry of Education building on Monday. — KUNA
