Last month hottest January on record: EU monitor Copernicus

 Last month was the hottest January on record, Europe’s climate monitor said Thursday, despite expectations that a cooler La Nina phenomenon might quell a streak of record-breaking global temperatures.

“January 2025 is another surprising month, continuing the record temperatures observed throughout the last two years, despite the development of La Nina conditions,” said Samantha Burgess, deputy director of the Copernicus Climate Change Service.—AFP
