KUWAIT: Sheikh Jaber Al-Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah Shooting Championship for the 2024/2025 sports season concluded on Saturday evening by crowning the winners of its three-day competitions, which included the Olympic shooting competitions (rifle and pistol) for men, women and beginners, at the Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Olympic Shooting Complex.
The championship competitions, which witnessed the participation of a large number of shooters from the club and the National Guard, resulted in Ali Al-Mutairi winning first place in the (10-meter air rifle - men’s category), Suhail Al-Shammari won first place in the (10-meter air pistol - men’s category), and Turki Al-Shammari won first place in the (50-meter rifle 3 positions - men’s category). In addition, shooter Hassan Al-Failakawi won first place in the (25-meter rapid pistol - men’s category), while shooter Ghazlan Hassan won first place in the (10-meter air pistol - women’s category) and (25-meter rapid pistol - women’s category), and shooter Maryam Irzouqi won first place in the (10-meter air rifle - women’s category).

In a press statement following the closing ceremony, President of Kuwait and Arab Shooting Federations Duaij Al-Otaibi expressed his pride in being present at this ceremony and honoring the winners, and the Kuwait Shooting Club’s pride in organizing this trophy in recognition of the generous contribution of Sheikh Jaber Al-Abdullah Al-Sabah in developing this competition since its establishment until today.
Al-Otaibi added that the Shooting Club is honored to organize a cup whose competition is held annually and bears the name of Sheikh Jaber Al-Abdullah Al-Sabah due to the unlimited support he provided to Kuwaiti sports in general and shooting sports in particular, and the special status he holds among the shooters of Kuwait.
For his part, shooter Suhail Al-Shammari, who won first place in the (10-meter air pistol - men’s category) competition, said in a similar statement that he seeks to participate annually in this competition to develop his level due to the skill of the competitors and their good presence in it. Al-Shammari praised the distinguished organization of the tournament, noting that he dreams of representing the State of Kuwait in international forums in the near future. — KUNA
