AASU, King’s College London ink partnership, cooperation deal

Launch of College of Medicine and Health Sciences ‘a qualitative step’

KUWAIT: Abdullah Al-Salem University (AASU) signed a partnership and cooperation agreement with King’s College London, a leading medical education institution, on Wednesday to establish the College of Medicine and Health Sciences at the university. Chairperson of the Founding Board of Directors of AASU. Dr Moudi Al-Humoud said in a press statement on the sidelines of the signing that the agreement comes within the strategic plan drawn up to start operating the college in the academic year 2026/2027 as a distinguished institution that provides high-quality academic education that contributes to the development of the health sector in Kuwait.

She added that “the launch of the College of Medicine and Health Sciences is a qualitative step in the journey of AASU that reflects our commitment to providing innovative, high-quality education that sets advanced standards for medical education and scientific research and prepares the next generation of leaders in the field of healthcare in partnership with King’s College.”

Al-Humoud pointed out that this partnership represents a continuation of the university’s efforts to enhance its academic standing and expand its contribution to national development, noting the vital role of the National Company for Education and Training Services, a subsidiary of the National Company for Technology Projects, which is owned by the Public Investment Authority, as a project management office that ensures the implementation of the partnership.

She explained that within the framework of this cooperation, King’s College will work in partnership with Abdullah Al-Salem University to design an innovative bachelor’s program in the Doctor of Medicine (MD) program in addition to specialized postgraduate programs in biomedical sciences. Al-Humoud stated that these programs aim to meet the urgent health needs in Kuwait with a focus on enhancing preventive care and integrating the latest innovations in health technology, noting that the cooperation between the two universities reflects Abdullah Al-Salem University’s commitment to preparing distinguished medical cadres capable of meeting the requirements of the local health sector and contributing to scientific progress globally.

The recently signed agreement between Abdullah Al-Salem University and the Ministry of Health to establish the College of Medicine and Health Sciences for the academic year 2026-2027 is a complementary dimension to the agreement between the two universities to provide components and elements of distinguished medical education by preparing a distinguished practical and scientific environment for clinical training.— KUNA
