Embassy celebrates 77th anniversary of Myanmar Independence Day

KUWAIT: The Embassy of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar in Kuwait celebrated, on Sunday, the 77th anniversary of Myanmar’s Independence Day. In his remarks, Ambassador of Myanmar Chan Aye expressed his sincere appreciation to His Highness the Amir, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the government of Kuwait, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kuwait for their continued support and cooperation, which have greatly facilitated the smooth operation of our diplomatic mission in Kuwait.

He stated, “Our Independence Day officially falls on the 4th of January, marking the day in 1948 when Myanmar regained its freedom from British rule. Since then, successive governments of Myanmar have adhered to an Independent and non-aligned foreign policy, fostering friendly relations with countries near and far.” Regarding the relationship between Myanmar and Kuwait, he noted that diplomatic relations were established in 1998, and the Myanmar Embassy in Kuwait was inaugurated in 2009, adding “Over the years, our two countries have maintained shared perspectives on various international issues of mutual concern.”

The principles of peaceful coexistence and respect for sovereignty, non-aggression, non-interference, equality and mutual benefit, and peaceful coexistence initiated by China and India in 1954, continue to be a cornerstone of Myanmar’s foreign policy.” During his tenure as Ambassador to Kuwait, he affirmed that he committed to working closely with Kuwaiti counterparts to strengthen further and elevate bilateral relations for the mutual benefit of the two countries. He concluded “I extend my best wishes to the people of Kuwait for continued success, prosperity, and progress under the wise leadership of His Highness the Amir, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.”
