Kuwait’s Q8 to operate 2 of Europe’s largest fuel stations

KUWAIT: Kuwait Petroleum International (Q8) has won two bids to operate two gas major gas stations in Europe, said the company’s CEO Shafi Al-Ajmi. In a statement to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), Al-Ajmi confirmed that the company won the bid for the rights to operate a fuel station, located on a major highway in Luxembourg, as well as another bid to operate a second major station in the same region, both of which are among the largest on the European highways.

He emphasized that this achievement is a significant step in the company’s strategy to strengthen its position in the European market, highlighting the long history of Kuwait Petroleum International in providing fuel services.

“This milestone will further enhance the Kuwaiti oil sector’s position in global oil markets, especially in the retail fuel market,” Al-Ajmi noted, adding that it will also promote the company’s brand “Q8,” symbolizing development, innovation, and distinguished services.

He explained that operations at both stations will begin on May 1st for a period of four years. These stations, which are 30 times larger than typical fuel stations, are expected to serve up to 25,000 customers daily, offering comprehensive services that meet the needs of a large number of clients.

As part of the company’s commitment to sustainability, solar panels will be installed on all suitable surfaces at the stations to reduce carbon footprints and support the use of clean energy, reflecting the company’s vision for promoting sustainable solutions and innovation in the transportation services sector.

Kuwait Petroleum International was established in 1983 as the refining and marketing arm of Kuwait Petroleum Corporation. It manages a vast network of over 4,700 retail fuel stations and transportation service stations across Europe, including more than 2,800 stations in Italy. The company also supplies jet fuel to global aviation at more than 70 airports worldwide and manufactures and markets some of the highest quality oils globally. Additionally, it holds shares in three refineries in Italy, Vietnam, and Oman through partnerships with global oil companies. — KUNA
