Dr M Ziad Al-Alyan new Editor-in-Chief of Kuwait Times

KUWAIT: Dr M Ziad Al-Alyan has been appointed as the Editor-in-Chief of Kuwait Times, marking a new chapter in the leadership of the Arabian Gulf’s first daily English-language newspaper, which was established in 1961. Dr Al-Alyan follows in the path forged by his late father and Kuwait Times’ founder Yousef Al-Alyan, and his brother Abd Al-Rahman Al-Alyan, continuing the journey with a renewed sense of purpose.

Dr Al-Alyan brings extensive experience across diverse fields, combining his roles in media and healthcare. Prior to his new appointment, he served as Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Kuwait Times.

In addition to his role in journalism, Dr Al-Alyan is the CEO of Central Circle Company Kuwait, a healthcare company specializing in medical equipment, consumables and pharmaceuticals. Central Circle is also a turnkey provider of mega hospital projects and has been operational since 1979.

With an impressive medical and academic background, Dr Al-Alyan is also an emergency medicine and trauma consultant. He graduated from Imperial College School of Medicine in London and is a member of the College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He also completed a fellowship in emergency medicine from the College of Emergency Medicine in the UK. Complementing his medical expertise, Dr Al-Alyan holds an MBA from a joint program at the London School of Economics, HEC Paris and NYU Stern School of Business.

With his diverse expertise, Dr Al-Alyan is set to steer Kuwait Times towards continued excellence in journalism while contributing to the newspaper’s role in shaping the region’s media landscape.
