LONDON: HH the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and his accompanying delegation arrived Tuesday in Scotland at the personal invitation of King Charles III of the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland. His Highness the Amir was received at the airport by a representative of the King, along with a high-level welcoming delegation and Kuwaiti Ambassador to the UK and Northern Ireland Abdullah Al-Munayekh. HH the Amir is accompanied by an official delegation including Minister of Amiri Diwan Affairs Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah, Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdullah Al-Yahya and senior officials at the Amiri Diwan and the ministry of foreign affairs.
HH the Amir was seen off at Kuwait airport by HH the Deputy Amir and Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, HH Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah, HH the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Chief of the National Guard Sheikh Mubarak Al-Hamoud Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, HH Sheikh Dr Mohammad Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, HH Sheikh Ahmad Al-Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah and First Deputy Prime Minister, Interior Minister and Defense Minister Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef Al-Sabah.
The visit of HH the Amir Sheikh Meshal to the UK represents a significant milestone in the journey of the relations that have spanned 125 years between the two countries. This visit marks the first trip of HH the Amir to the UK since he assumed office on Dec 20, 2023, succeeding the late Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. Previously, he visited the United Kingdom four times as Crown Prince.
The visit on Tuesday, along with the exchanged visits between the rulers of Kuwait and the British monarchs, reflects the strength of historical ties, mutual respect, shared interests and coordination on regional and global issues of common concern. — KUNA
