LONDON: The visit of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to Scotland, at the personal invitation of King Charles III, is a crowning moment for the long-standing relationship between Kuwait and the United Kingdom, said Kuwait’s Ambassador to the UK Bader Al-Munayekh. The visit also marks the conclusion of events celebrating the 125th anniversary of Kuwait-UK partnership last year, which included numerous activities in both countries.

His Highness the Amir and his accompanying official delegation arrived on Tuesday afternoon in Scotland, United Kingdom. His Highness the Amir’s delegation includes Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah, Minister of Amiri Diwan Affairs, Abdullah Al-Yahya, Minister of Foreign Affairs, along with senior officials from the Amiri Diwan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In a statement to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) and Kuwait TV, Ambassador Al-Munayekh said His Highness the Amir’s visit to Dumfries House, the residence of King Charles in Ayrshire, Scotland, carries significant meaning. It reflects the strong and enduring ties between Kuwait and the United Kingdom and highlights the unique relationship between the ruling families of both countries.

Al-Munayekh further noted that the visit will strengthen the existing bilateral relations and lay the groundwork for enhancing cooperation across various fields. He affirmed that the special friendship between His Highness the Amir and King Charles III has a positive impact and serves as a powerful motivator for deepening relations between Kuwait and the UK, which continue to grow steadily across all areas.

His Highness was warmly received by Lord-Lieutenant Iona MacDonald, representative of King Charles for the Ayrshire area, Constantine Innemée, Executive Director of Partnerships for Highgrove and Partnerships at the King’s Foundation, and Colin Mackenzie-Blackman, Executive Director for Development at the foundation. Also present to welcome His Highness was the Ambassador of Kuwait to the United Kingdom Al-Munayekh.

The ambassador expressed hope that following this visit, the two countries would expand their collaboration into new sectors. He pointed out that the strong relationship between Kuwait and the UK is supported by key pillars, including the close bond between the ruling families and the historical ties that date back over 250 years, beginning with the Anglo-Kuwaiti Agreement of 1899.

Additionally, Al-Munayekh highlighted the importance of people-to-people connections, including mutual visits between the citizens of both countries and the presence of more than 10,000 Kuwaiti students studying in the UK — the largest number from any country. — KUNA
