Al-Mashaan: Stick to timeline for Kuwait’s airport terminal project

Ministry reviews progress of work in T2 project

KUWAIT: Minister of Public Works Dr Noura Al-Mashaan held a meeting on Thursday to review the latest developments in the implementation of the new airport project (T2) in the presence of the head of the General Directorate of Civil Aviation Sheikh Humoud Mubarak Al-Sabah and representatives of the Ministry of Interior.

Dr Al-Mashaan said that the meeting aims to closely review the progress of the project and follow up on it and identify any challenges facing it and work to overcome them.

She called for the speedy completion of all works at the new airport with the required quality and efficiency according to the approved technical specifications and adherence to the timeline for the operation of all services and facilities, stressing the importance of coordination with Civil Aviation in this regard. She pointed out that the new airport is one of the ambitious national projects to develop and modernize the country’s infrastructure to serve the vision of New Kuwait 2035.

She explained that the new airport will contribute to transforming the country into a regional and global financial and commercial center that attracts investment, stressing her great interest in developing the country’s air transport infrastructure by following the best international standards in the field of civil aviation industry.

According to the statement, the materials used, equipment and specialized companies provided by the contractor are currently being approved in coordination with the contract consultant, the supervisory body in the ministry and the relevant government agencies.

For his part, the contractor of the project said that the beginning was to start the earthworks and reach the levels of excavation in both the catering building and the tunnels according to the requirements of the contract, where the obstacles in the project were removed in cooperation with the concerned authorities represented by the Ministries of Interior, Electricity and Water, and other concerned parties.

It is noteworthy that the most important aspects of Package 3 are the catering building and the Technical Support and Support Center, which includes a security point, security screening for employees and goods, waste disposal area, service tunnels at the airside and aircraft corridors and parking lots. — KUNA
