Writers’ Forum Kuwait bids farewell to 2024 in style

The Writers’ Forum Kuwait ended year 2024 with all triumph and style at the residence of Yajuvendra Chandrakar. The meeting not only witnessed the presence of most of the members but also some eminent guests who added up to the alluring evening.

Vice President of the Forum Sayeed Nazar Kadpawi presided the meeting while Sangeeta Choube Pankhudi was invited to be the chief guest. Nazneen Ali, the general secretary convened the meeting. The cold December evening was all filled with the warmth of creativity when unique and captivating renditions were made during the poetry session. The opening was done through Parminder Kaur’s English poem presented by Mohan Singh. While it was about the realities of life, Anupama Chaturvedi’s Hindi poem Budha Waqt addressed the feeling one witnesses in old age which was further reinstated by Yajuvendra Chandrakar in his poem about old age home. Kalpana Shah brought out the realities of relationship through her poem that was well-appreciated. Kavita Sarvesh added humor to the evening through her poetry on Moustache in Hindi.

Pankaj Tiwari and Ameeruddin Ameer’s melodious rendition were as mesmerizing as ever. Poetic diction with well-crafted thoughts was presented through their Ghazals by Nazneen Ali, Aamir Diwan, Syed Muzammil Qadar and Dr Rajesh Gupta, each being unique while addressing varied subjects of life, love, beauty and relationships. Pankaj Pawan’s Punjabi ghazal was equally meaningful.

Young talent Ishanvi Chandrakar left everyone spell-bound by her rendition of poem by Sangeeta Choube on a very sensitive subject of molestation. Guest poet Yusuf Raza’s ghazal was enjoyed by all while his father Ansar Raza’s poetry was recited by Rukhsar Raza. Chedkani, a poem on the subject of eve-teasing was recited by Afroz Alam who took the audience down memory lane to their young days. The presence of Fatima was an icing on the cake.

After a long session of Poetry, the meeting entered into the last session where the Chief Guest Sangeeta Choube Pankhudi admired each of the poet mentioning that a rainbow was formed by the vivid colors of poetry presented in the evening. She then presented her Hindi poem. Veteran Urdu poet Saeed Nazar Kadpawi, president of the evening gave some valuable insights about the art of writing poetry specially Ghazal that was well received by the members. He presented a short Urdu nazm showcasing the fact that impact is created by the originality of ideas and choice of words and not by the length of the poem. The meeting concluded with Nazneen Ali expressing her gratitude to the hosts and wishing everyone a happy and prosperous new year.
