Bahrain clinch Khaleeji Zain 26

Amir, Crown Prince thank officials, fans • Zain CEO presents memento to Crown Prince

KUWAIT: Bahrain won the Khaleeji Zain 26 title with a dramatic 2-1 comeback against Oman at Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium. Trailing 1-0 at halftime after Abdulrahman Al-Mushaifri’s header, Bahrain’s Mohammed Marhoon equalized with a penalty and created the winning goal shortly after.

The final was attended by HH the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah on behalf of HH the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. A vibrant closing ceremony, including performances, fireworks and flag displays, preceded the match. HH the Crown Prince also honored Gulf football legends, including stars from across the region. Zain Vice Chairman and Group CEO Bader Al-Kharafi presented a memento to HH the Crown Prince ahead of the final.

Oman dominated the first half with a solid defense and counterattacks, but Bahrain’s tactical adjustments and aggressive second-half play turned the tide. Despite Oman’s efforts to equalize, missed chances and defensive gaps cost them the game. HH the Amir and HH the Crown Prince sent cables of thanks and appreciation to government officials and fans for the successful organization of the tournament, which ran from Dec 21 to Jan 4, and for creating a joyful atmosphere throughout the event.
