KUWAIT: The volunteers of Kuwait have played an essential role in the successful organization of the 26th Arabian Gulf Cup, “Khaleeji Zain 26,” currently being held in Kuwait. With nearly 4,400 volunteers contributing their time and effort, they have significantly supported the smooth operation of the tournament, assisting both the organizing authorities and the fans, and demonstrating a strong commitment to their country.
Since the tournament began on December 21, and even prior to the event, young Kuwaitis have actively volunteered. The Public Authority for Sport opened registration for volunteers, and the response was remarkable. The volunteers come from various professional backgrounds and have worked alongside officials to ensure the event is carried out effectively, reflecting Kuwait’s capability to host international events with efficiency.
Throughout the tournament, volunteers have been visible in many areas, from assisting with parking logistics at Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium to guiding spectators to their seats. Their presence has ensured the comfort and safety of attendees, while also providing support by distributing water, beverages, and other essential items, creating a welcoming environment for everyone.
Abdullah Al-Adwani, head of the Volunteer Committee for Khaleeji Zain 26, shared with KUNA that the volunteers have been vital in ensuring a smooth experience for the attendees. “Our goal is to provide a positive experience for fans attending the matches,” he explained. Al-Adwani highlighted that volunteers had received both theoretical and practical training in crowd management, delivered by global experts, with a focus on Jaber Al-Ahmad International and Jaber Al-Mubarak Stadiums.
Omar Al-Mutairi, from the Kuwait Youth Authority and a volunteer coordinator at Jaber Stadium, noted that volunteers are responsible for directing spectators to their seats and entrances. “So far, we have had no major issues, and the cooperation from the fans has been great,” he said. Ghanem Al-Enezi, another volunteer at the stadium gates, explained that his role involves guiding people to the correct entrances and ensuring they have what they need for a comfortable experience.
Samira Al-Shammari, a volunteer from the Civil Defense, mentioned that she and her team are prepared to handle any emergencies or evacuations if necessary. “We are trained and ready to respond in case of an emergency,” she said.
The volunteer program was launched through the government’s Sahel application, with volunteers undergoing interviews to ensure they were well-prepared for their roles. Many of the volunteers have prior experience in organizing large-scale events, including previous Gulf Cup tournaments and other international sporting events hosted in Kuwait.
These volunteers are integral to the tournament’s success. They provide crucial logistical support and serve as a point of contact for attendees, assisting them from arrival at the stadium to finding their seats. Their work is not only focused on managing crowds but also ensuring the safety and comfort of fans, enhancing the overall experience. Volunteers have been trained in various aspects of event management, making them a key part of Kuwait’s ability to deliver a high-quality event.
The organizing committee for Khaleeji Zain 26 has emphasized the importance of the volunteers’ contributions, which are expected to leave a lasting impression on visitors.
