KUWAIT: His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah received Chinese Ambassador to Kuwait Zhang Jianwei at Bayan Palace on Wednesday.
During the meeting, they reviewed the progress of several key development projects outlined in the memoranda of understanding between the governments of Kuwait and China. These projects cover a range of sectors, including cooperation on the Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port project, collaboration in the electricity and renewable energy sectors, and the establishment of a low-carbon green system for waste recycling. The discussion also touched on joint efforts in housing development, environmental infrastructure—particularly sewage treatment plants—and cooperation in the development of free and economic zones.
Kuwait has fast-tracked its projects with China after a period of stagnation. Last week, the Cabinet approved a draft decree related to the memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Kuwait and China, marking a significant step toward advancing their cooperation and accelerating the completion of key projects.
The meeting was attended by Abdulaziz Dakhil Al-Dakhil, Head of the Prime Minister’s Diwan; Dr Noura Al-Mashaan, Minister of Public Works; Dr Mahmoud Bushehri, Minister of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy; Abdullatif Al-Meshari, Minister of State for Municipal Affairs and Minister of State for Housing Affairs; Noura Al-Fassam, Minister of Finance and Minister of State for Economic Affairs and Investment and Samih Jawhar Hayat, Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs. — KUNA
